Accessibility Statement

WCAG 2.1

Level AA benchmark

Scavuzzo Associates designs, builds and remediates physical spaces for accessibility. It would be inconsistent with that work for our own website to be difficult to use, so accessibility is treated as a requirement here rather than an afterthought.

How the site is built

Conformance status

This website aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, the standard referenced by the ADA Title II rule and by most accessibility procurement requirements in the United States.

Content is delivered as server-rendered HTML, so text, headings, links and forms are available to assistive technology without relying on JavaScript.

The site uses a single consistent navigation structure, a logical heading order on every page, visible keyboard focus indicators, text that reflows and remains readable when enlarged to 200%, and colour combinations chosen to meet WCAG contrast minimums.

We assess the site as substantially conformant: the great majority of WCAG 2.1 Level AA success criteria are met, but some content has not yet been fully remediated. Known gaps are listed below rather than left for you to discover.

All images that convey information carry alternative text; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.

Known limitations

Compatibility

We are actively working on the following, and we will tell you where things stand if you ask:

This site is tested with current versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge, on desktop and mobile, and with screen readers including NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver.

Some downloadable documents, such as older project sheets and permit paperwork, are PDFs that may not be tagged for screen reader use. We will provide any document in an accessible format on request, normally within two business days.

It is built to work with keyboard-only navigation, browser zoom, and operating-system level settings for reduced motion and increased contrast.

Embedded third-party content, such as map displays, is controlled by the provider and may not fully meet the same standard. Address and contact details are always available as plain text alongside it.

If you use older software or a specialised configuration and something does not work, please contact us and we will help directly.

If any video is added in future, captions will be provided. If you encounter a barrier that is not listed here, please report it — that is how the list above gets shorter.
